Well, i would say to your friend that is a real insult to Da Vinci. Does she have any art history background? Or any art knowledge at all? I say  if you want to know more about the subject of "Natural" talent look up how the Nazi's were breeding for the Aryan race. Their scientist thought that human behavior from parents could be passed to children through genes. So, someone who bites there nails will inevitably have a kid who bites there nails because it is in their genes. Well, guess what if you study biology not possible. You are not born with a certain level of interest towards anything. You are born with the need to eat and sleep, and you can't even control your bladder. Your habits, interest, and taste are all developed as you grow. Now, once your done with your biology lesson and you see that genes such as the "art gene" don't exist then move on to psychology where you will learn about "Nature" vs. "Nurture" and human behavior. Now, it should be clear that you don't grow up to be a great artist, you work at it. I like art and have been doing it for a while, my aunt is a professional artist who helped me when I was younger get started. I watched her do art as a kid and like most kids do they mimic the behavior of those around them and I tried to draw like her. Which will help develop skills for later in life. So, I will conclude with natural talent is just impossible and an insult to artist who have developed their skill over time.
